Community Farm & Food Programs

Pie Ranch is excited to announce the new Community Farm & Food Programs, where we will use the newly constructed farmhouse and other facilities to heal our relationships with ourselves, with one another, and with the Earth.

Participants massage organic, farm-grown cabbages into kimchi as part of our Joy of Fermentation workshop.

Through outreach and collaboration with our community in Pescadero, as well as friends and colleagues in food, farming, education, and social justice movements throughout the greater Bay Area and beyond, Community Farm & Food Programs at Pie Ranch will become a vibrant hub for weaving together the many threads of justice and activism that are working towards a meaningful transformation of our food system.

We are constantly evolving what it means to be an educational farm rooted in Love, Justice, Solidarity, and Joy, and we hope you join us in this ongoing work! With the blessing and guidance from advisors and community partners, we will:

Actively center intersectional and decolonial thinking and frameworks in our work for a more just food system.

  • Create spaces for historically marginalized and oppressed groups to come together, heal, (re)learn from, and (re)connect with the land.

  • Organize to intentionally steer development, money, and resources towards womxn, BIPOC folx, LGBTQIA folx, and others who've been historically denied access to land and resources in our food system.

  • Create opportunities for white anti-racist work + white ancestral recovery for collective liberation alongside multiracial efforts to shift to a culture of care for each other and the Earth.

  • Create intentional spaces for folks to learn and receive training and knowledge to move beyond performative allyship into real solidarity and transformative action and to make meaningful connections between food justice and other justice work.

  • Leverage art, traditional crafts, cultural practices, ancestral foodways, and plant medicine to create a more just, sustainable, healthy, and joyful movement for food sovereignty.

  • Hold space for radically loving and inclusive workshops, retreats, skillshares, training celebrations, art builds, classes, meetings, healing circles, affinity groups, real talk sessions, and whatever else best serves and nurtures those working towards just, sustainable futures for all.

With leadership from Indigenous and community partners, we will create space for conversations, workshops, dreaming, and actualizing what land rematriation can look like; explore Indigenous histories, present land-back efforts, and imagine a shared future of weaving together Indigenous and regenerative land stewardship practices.
