I recently returned from an ancestral tour of Ireland, seeking out the healing wells, stone circles, and peace walls, sitting with the question of how the beautiful, resilient people of an abolitionist country that experienced genocide and oppression for hundreds of years could carry their trauma to Turtle Island. I learned that hurt people hurt people, and so here we are all these years later with the essential task of healing and connection to self, other, Earth. But from the wise and well ancestors and from the late night traditional music sessions, I also understood that this task of connection cannot be done alone, and that now more than ever we must join in community to cultivate circles of care, resistance, solidarity, even joy. This is the core of what we do at Pie Ranch and we are asking for your help to support us!

In 2025, Pie Ranch will celebrate 20 years on these sacred lands, home of the Quiroste Tribe. As there are no known descendants of the Quiroste people we are partnered with the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band and Land Trust on the healing task of weaving together traditional ecological knowledge with regenerative farming practices. Help us continue to sow these seeds of hope.

We extend our deepest gratitude to each of you for all the ways you’ve made history by supporting Pie Ranch over the past 20 years. Your ongoing generosity creates the opportunity for a young person to imagine that a more healthful, just way of living is possible. Your giving brings joyful, transformative, land-based experiences to hundreds of people. Your gift nourishes our soils so that Pie Ranch regenerator farmers can grow produce in partnership with the land and creates meaningful experiences at the farm for thousands of visitors. Your generosity helps us to work toward structural change in the food system with initiatives like the People’s Food and Farm Project and to cultivate our network of relationships with organizations, families, and schools to envision and actualize a food system rooted in health & justice. 

Your financial support is urgently needed by the end of the year and is matched generously by long-time Pie Ranch friend, Debra Dunn.  If you give before or on Dec 3rd, Giving Tuesday, your gift will be matched up to $25,000.

During these darkening days when the veil is thin and we are experiencing an intense collective wintering, we have the opportunity to look into our harvest stores and assess what golden fruits we can share with each other to carry us through the darkness. This winter, we have a very literal way for you to contribute to these harvest stores by supporting Pie Ranch: a portion of your gift will go to the reconstruction of the historic Creamery where we’ll be able to store crops and milk for our community. 

The historic Creamery building was once home to the largest dairy in San Mateo County. Over the coming year, we’re hoping to resurrect this building that will properly store crops such as corn, beans, squash, and wheat along with delicious milk from Pie Ranch’s animals that will find its way into cheeses, desserts and more in our educational culinary programs. A portion of your stretch gift will help bring this building to life while continuing to support core programs at Pie Ranch!
